10/31/2003A second upcoming concert has been cancelled due to low ticket sales (I won't say which one). If this keeps up, local concert presenters might be less willing to take a chance on flamenco in the future. People, you know what to do: buy tickets!

10/27/2003The short film, Stomp: a Pulse Odyssey, featuring Eva la Yerbabuena, is still playing at the Natural History Museum's IMAX theatre. Shows on Friday and Saturday nights.

10/24/2003Just down the street from Jaleo DC, a new restaurant called La Tasca is opening soon. (There's another branch opening in Arlington around the same time. There's a third branch that's opening somewhere else, anyone know?) These are all part of a chain based in the UK.
Gloria de Jerez will be giving a workshop Nov 15-16 at the Arte Flamenco studio in Laurel, MD. Details

10/22/2003Remember pianist Chano Dominguez from the film Calle 54? He's performing (with a cajon player, singer and dancer) at the Library of Congress on Saturday November 8, 2003. Details. Admission is free, but tickets are required (get there early).
Jazz trumpeter Jerry Gonzalez, who was also in Calle 54 was the subject of a flamenco-related article in last Friday's New York Times. (requires registration)

10/8/2003NOTE: For Thursday Oct 9th only (the night of Carmen Linares/Gerardo Núñez at Lisner), the flamenco show at Las Tapas will be cancelled and Bambule will present Sevillanas dancers (instead of a flamenco show). Andalucía Restaurant will have its regular show at the regular time (8pm).
Just added info for Bailes Ineditos concert coming up in November (conceived, directed, produced by and featuring dancers Edwin Aparicio and Anna Menendez). Details

10/2/2003Marija Temo's website has a new look. Announcements for her weekly flamenco master classes are listed. Upcoming performances: Oct 14th at the Library of Congress and Nov 5th at the Corcoran
Kyoko (formerly from DC) and Ricardo Santiago (recently danced in the Washington Opera), will be performing with Bailes Ferrer this weekend in Ft Lauderdale.
Carmen Linares and Gerardo Núñez are coming to Lisner October 9th. Don't forget to buy their CD Un Ramito de Locura and have them autograph it backstage after the concert. This is Carmen's third time performing at a major venue in DC, but it's Gerardo's first!
Just heard that Tibu la Tormenta died in a car accident last Friday in Jerez. Details. (Thanks to Bianca Antonia for this info)

Just heard that dancer Anna Menendez and guitarist Richard Marlow will be performing in Christmas Revels 2003--Roads of the Roma. Tickets go on sale today.
Dancer Tamara Sol Flys leaves for Albuquerque. She'll be back Sunday.
