Haven't you ever wondered about things like "When was Paco de Lucía last

past events archive to help answers questions like that one. But since I didn't
realize this great idea until now, the archives only go back as far as June

Micaela Moreno with Miguelito at Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Georgetown, DE
Fifty years ago, March 17, 1955, a group of Carmelite Sisters of Charity were asked to come to the U.S. to open a parochial school, Our Lady of Grace, in Castro Valley, California. In the following years we expanded our ministry in San Mateo and San Jose, California. In 1978 the Sisters, in response to the needs of the new immigrants, moved to the East Coast: Washington, DC, joining some of our Sisters already established there since 1968. At the present time we also serve in Langley Park, Maryland, Brooklyn, New York, and Georgetown, Delaware.
"We, the Carmelite Sisters of Charity, were founded by St. Joaquina de Vedruna in Vic, Barcelona, Spain. February 26, 1826. The urgent needs of the nineteenth Century provided Joaquina de Vedruna a framework for her desire to consecrate her life to God. Together with nine young women, she started to live in community and provided a very clear objective: The education of young women and the care of the sick, preferably the poorest and the most needy. She was declared a Saint by Pope John XXIII in 1959. Today her daughters are established in 24 countries in four continents."
That was a little history on the Carmelite Sisters of Charity Vedruna. The 50th Anniversary of the Carmelites of Charity will take place on April 2, 2005 at 12:00pm at St. Michael the Archangel, Georgetown, DE. The contact number is: (302) 856-3678. We will be performing at around 3pm.
