You're going to be hearing about Rodrigo and Gabriela sooner or later--they'll be in DC on March 20th. And the press will inevitably pigeonhole them as flamenco guitarists. They are amazing musicians and I love the fact that they prefer not to be called flamencos or any other specific label. Guitarist Gabriela Quintero says, "The truth is, I don't really know how flamenco musicians do things. I often try to copy their riffs, and I end up making different rhythms in the process...it's good that we're not tied to any specific techniques, because that provides a certain type of freedom."
