I brought 10-year-old Grecia (daughter of a friend of mine) to see our show and assigned her to photographer duty. She happily sat on the floor in front of the stage to get these shots from a child's point of view. Photos by Grecia.

This particular night, we had a great DJ who played a lot of Spanish club music and some flamenco that got the crowd pumped up and dancing non-stop. The audience immediately took over our stage. June 28, 2004

Baltimore-based dancer Tamara Sol Flys happened to be in the audience, so naturally I asked her to take pics for me. Sure enough, she was recruited at the last minute to join us onstage. So Tamara took pics from the performer's point of view. Unfortunately, most of them were too dark, but I published a few here anyway.

Originally the party was supposed to take place at the Mediterranean Cafe but had to be relocated at the last minute due to a situation out of our control. Fortunately, a new location was quickly arranged: Sangria Cafe at 3636 16th St NW DC inside the Woodner apartment building.

When I first started at El Rincon Español in 1997, dancer Micaela Moreno and I heard someone doing palmas during our show. The palmas were perfectly in compas so we looked around to see who was doing it. Turned out to be a very adorable three-year-old Peruvian girl name Grecia. We asked her to join us onstage and from that day on whenever we performed there, Grecia gladly joined us in our show every weekend. For awhile, customers mistakenly thought that Micaela and I were married and that Grecia was our daughter. :) No, we weren't married, but Grecia became like a daughter to both of us over the years.

In case you didn't know, yes, I've been doing this rumba gig on Fridays and Saturdays for the past month or so. But I haven't advertised it heavily since we've been cancelled so many times due to rainy weather.
