Gloria de Jerez workshop at Arte Flamenco November 15-16, 2003

Gloria comes all the way from Virginia Beach every now and then to give a workshop in the DC area (a long drive). As expected, there was a good turnout that you can see in the photos. In fact, I heard that someone came all the way from Pennsylvania to attend. For more information about Gloria, visit her website at www.flamenco-arts.org (photos courtesy of Ginette)

School show at Andalucía Restaurant November 19, 2003

For years I did flamenco lecture-demonstrations in the Washington Performing Arts Society's Concerts in the Schools Program with Spanish Dance Theatre, Ziva's Spanish Dance Ensemble and Danza del Río. We had a lot of tough crowds, but the experience helped me gain confidence and skill in giving presentations to young people.

Nowadays, instead of me going to the schools, the schools come to one of the venues where I perform: the Andalucia Restaurant.

Pink Flamenco November 13, 2003

Arts promoter, Sandra Bishop is still working on fixing the rehearsal space, which we lovingly call "Pink Flamenco," but Ginette and I needed a place to practice for our New Year's Eve show in First Night Alexandria.

The "Pink Flamenco" is still under renovation, but it's open if you're looking for a rehearsal or party space. It's close to Friendship Heights metro and Bambule and there's plenty of parking. An informational website is in the works. In the meantime, for details.

Chano Dominguez at the Library of Congress November 8, 2003

Chano and friends have been to DC already a number of times. Saturday's concert was the first time you could enjoy the show for free. Local pianist and flamenco dance student, Lenore Boulet is one of Chano's biggest fans.
