November 13, 2004 6:21pm Easy gig. Two ten-minute shows and we were done. They fed us dinner of the typical wedding reception quality. Afterwards we went out for some dessert across the street at the Nile Cafe Egyptian. Just for fun, we each ordered a different item but we all had Egyptian coffee. Yummy! (All those years of me doing school shows with Ziva and the Spanish Dance Theatre paid off!) Considering that we travelled more than three hours to get to James Madison University, I'm glad our lecture/demonstration went especially well. We had a great time--the trip was worth it! The audience was very attentive and at the end of the program asked us some good questions. Everyone had a good time, but more importantly, we inspired at least a few college students to take lessons in flamenco dance and flamenco guitar. November 12, 2004 7:28pm According to Lauren, the turnout was much more than expected; so much more in fact that they didn't have enough chairs! So we found an italian restaurant nearby and I ordered a huge bowl of pasta for myself. Yum! Dinner was good but I'm still inspired from tonight's performance. Time to play guitar again! November 12, 2004 10:12pm (photo by Ginette) Ginette's turn to play. Her grandmother, back in Peru, was a guitarist (but not flamenco). I suppose that if Ginette's making an effort to learn to play guitar, maybe I should take some dance classes again. :) November 12, 2004 10:17pm Miguelito showing off his official JMU Spanish Club t-shirt! Special thanks to Cesar and Lauren O'Donohue of the JMU Spanish Club and Gina (Ginette's mom) for their support in making this show possible.
