Just heard that the famous Fazil's Studio (in New York City) will soon be closing, torn down and replaced by condos. Every time I went up to New York with dancer friends, we always stopped by Fazil's to take a few classes or just to see what famous flamencos we'd bump into. Here's a blog about Fazil's from 2004.

Just heard that dancer Edwin Aparicio will be performing this Friday Sept 14th with Jesús Montoya's group Pureza Flamenca at Lake Las Vegas Resort.

Tomorrow (Saturday), DC Dance Collective is having its Collaborative Arts Festival. For a mere $20, you can take a as many 30 minute sample classes as you like. Flamenco sampler classes taught by Genoveva and María Roncal. Sevillanas taught by Ginette Perea. Other styles include Jazz, Hip Hop, Break Dance, Belly Dance, Salsa and much more.

This Sunday, American Dance Institute in Rockville is hosting its Family Arts Day with all kinds of activities including free flamenco classes. Details

Dancer Tamara Sol Flys informs me that the Tuesday night flamenco show at Red Maple has been cancelled. But they may host occasional special shows, so check Tamara's website for announcements.
