Miguelito's Photo DiaryFebruary 15, 2004 - February 20, 2004
Rincon Español February 20, 2004 I was hanging out with some friends in Adams-Morgan and decided to show them a place where I used to perform years ago. El Rincon Español Restaurant in Adams-Morgan. 1:13am February 21, 2004 I performed here for several summers first with dancer Micaela Moreno in 1997. Can you believe that we had a "stage" in this tiny little place? Cool thing is that during the summer of 1997, this was THE flamenco hangout and all my flamenco friends would pack this place! 2:20am February 21, 2004 What made this work was the artistic skill of the performers and the many people who supported them. And of course the fact this place was tiny contributed to the intimacy of the flamenco experience. Andalucia February 19, 2004 As far as photography is concerned, the Andalucia Restaurant is very challenging. Good shots are difficult because the "stage" is at the same level as the audience so it's almost impossible to get a full view of the dancer. My friends Gina and Steve Svoboda came to see the show. (photo by Gina) Afterwards a group of us went to Guarapo (2039 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, VA. Call 703-528-6500) to catch the Thursday night show by Duende Camaron which starts around 11:00pm. Unfortunately, the pics were accidentally deleted. Ugh! Tuscana Villa February 15, 2004 It was a gathering in honor of Jason Vera y Aragon and Richard Marlow, both of whom celebrated their birthdays this past weekend. Eventually, it turned into yet another one of our all-night flamenco parties--well almost, some people had to leave early due to work the next day. The celebration took place at the Tuscana Villa restaurant just down the street from the DC Dance Collective. Nobody's paying me to be a photographer, right? :) Micaela Mar's Studio February 15, 2004 (photos removed at the request of Danzamarina) Photos taken with the Olympus Stylus 300 Digital Camera Text and original images ©1996-2013 by .
