New stuff, updates and reminders

2/2 My friend Eric just gave his flamenco site a makeover. It looks great and also happens to feature some DC area flamenco artists. Take a look.

2/1 I'm sad to report that El Rincón Español restaurant closed its doors for good last Tuesday. The summer of '97 it was the popular hangout for DC flamencos. You might find the owner Victor still clearing out the place in the next couple of days. Stop by El Rincón if you get the chance and thank him.

1/31 Just made a couple of cosmetic changes to the website to make it load a little quicker.

1/28 Just received the phone and address info for Latin Palace in Baltimore. This Friday Jan 29, at their grand opening, dancers Natalia Monteleón, Edwin Aparicio and Sara Jerez with guitarist Richard Marlow will be performing. There will be a salsa band performing afterwards. So make the effort to drive out to Baltimore, support your flamencos and make a evening out of it. See calendar for details.

1/27 Just updated the BUZZ today. Los del Montes coming to Boston in February.

1/26 Just added Natalia Monteleon's class schedule to my teachers page. Take a look.

1/26 The Latin Palace - Broadway in Fells Point, Baltimore - show featuring Natalia Monteleón, Edwin Aparicio, Sara Jerez and guitarist Richard Marlow - this Friday Jan 29. Stay tuned for more details.

1/24 Hey dancers! There's a new guitarist coming to town. Gerardo Moreno (aka Wayne Poole) is moving back to the DC area from New Mexico where he played for María Benitez' second dance company. Call him at (703)548-1558. (Thanks to Fran Weisberg for this info)

1/22 Lorca's Blood Wedding to be performed at George Washington University Sunday the 24th. See calendar for details.

1/22 Cantaora Esperanza Fernandez coming to New York Feb 23. See New York page for details.

1/21 Guitarist Pedro Cortés performing Friday Jan 22 at Mesón Flamenco in New York!

1/21 Review of Noche Flamenca's performance in Boston in the Buzz. Additional class added for Gloria de Jerez workshop--see my calendar for more info. Musicians can audit at a reduced price!

1/19 Just added links to the websites of two New York area tablaos. See New York page for more info.

1/16 Flamenco singer Manolo Segura is in the DC area until Jan 24. Call Manolo to arrange for private or group lessons in cante, or how to dance with or accompany cante. Telephone numbers: (301)776-3137 or (703)549-8111.

1/15 Did you just see Noche Flamenca in New York (Jan 9-10) or Philadelphia Jan 13-24)? Order the CD of one of the cantaores, 'El Falo,' today at my shopping page.

1/15 Did you know that José Greco teaches in nearby Lancaster, Pennsylvania? Click here to find out exactly where. Incidentally, you can find former DC area dancer Lola Zalamea there too!
