DC area flamenco venues via Interactive Google Map
This is a work in progress--last updated Monday 12:48pm November 6, 2006. I'm using Google's free API tool to generate this map of flamenco venues in DC. Click on the markers to get further details. Later I'll add color coded markers to differentiate between flamenco, sevillanas and rumba venues.
In the meantime, you can get an overall visual idea of how the venues are geographically distributed throughout the DC area. If you click and drag the map northeastward, you'll be able to see the Baltimore gigs indicated too. Pretty cool, no?
I'm thinking that this will be useful to first-timers to the DC flamenco scene who want to find a venue close to their home, office or hotel. There are all kinds of interesting possibilities with this technology so it'll take me some time to try out different ideas as well as learn and write the code that makes it all work. Feel free to give me some feedback on what I've done so far. Or if you're a web developer yourself, show me what cool stuff you can do with the Google API and perhaps I'll publish it here with your name in the credits!
