Just for fun, I asked a few of
my flamenco friends to tell me what they would want for Christmas--if
money was no object. Some of their fantasy wishes, as you'll see, are
outrageously expensive and some are just plain outrageous!
I hope to add more wish lists in the next few days. Enjoy! Use the form at the bottom of this page to send me your wish list for 2008!
"CDs/DVDs
or maybe some tickets to a good
show."
--Maryam, flamenco dance student
"The
Fishman
microphone that Ramin installed in his guitar. In Richard Brune's shop,
he has these display cabinets he custom built. They line the display
room. I wouldn't mind one of those."
Steve Svoboda, flamenco guitar student
"Concert
supremo grand Conde
Hermanos blanca (approx US$10,000) with machines, clear golpeador,
hardcase, Godin
pickup and fishman mics with EQ on each string. Also a supply of 1800-grit
sandpaper(currently, 1200-grit is highest known to man)"
--John Boulet, flamenco guitar student and inventor of Le
Technique
[Editor's note: as far as I know there's no model called "concert supremo grand." It's just John's way of saying he wants the "ultimate" Conde.]
"Mario
Cortés cajón Paradisso model
#2 birchwood, a trip to Spain and private lessons with Gerardo Núñez
for a month and a Conde Hermanos negra flamenca with machines, a clear
golpeador, no pickups."
Michael Long, flamenco guitar student
"One
way ticket to spain and a class covering fundamentals of flamenco
(kind of like Marija Temo's flamenco communication workshop)."
Soheila, flamenco dance student
"Conde Hermanos blanca with machines and golpeador." Jim Evans, flamenco guitar student
"All-expense-paid trip to live and study in Spain for six months." Bianca Antonia, flamenco dancer (Houston, Texas)
"Tickets for the upcoming Vicente Amigo concert, an all-expense-paid trip to Spain and a new amplification system." Michael Pérez, flamenco guitarist
"
DVD's, books on JavaScript, XML and other advanced webdesign features,
a significant raise, or a better job, flamenco fans are always welcome
(any color, except red and black that I already have)."
Renata, flamenco dancer
"A new flamenco dress (or skirt) to replace the one I lost."
Micaela, flamenco dancer
"A
play cell phone like Miguelito's, digital camera like Miguelito's, all
expense paid trip to Spain and China, to be a dancing Santa Claus so
I can combine flamenco and Christmas, lots and lots of tickets to flamenco
concerts, I desperately need a flamenco hat, a board so I can practice
at home, a full-length mirror, new flamenco CD's, a fan in lavender...and
world peace and a car...I don't care what kind, I'm desperate."
Cerritos, flamenco dancer
